Regional Youth Conferences

Regional Youth Conferences is a program that lets us send quality CES teachers to your local youth conference.

How does a Regional Youth Conference work?

You are responsible for all aspects of your youth conference: choosing the location and dates for your youth conference and making any necessary housing arrangements for the participants. Our Regional Youth Conference Planning Packet gives some sample agendas that you can alter to fit your ward’s or stake’s needs. The packet also gives ideas on how to plan a conference.

Print out the Request Form. The first page is the actual request, asking you to list your contact information, the dates of your conference, what agenda you'll be using, and how many teachers you want. The second is a priesthood approval form. The appropriate priesthood approval needs to be received before you make your request. These forms must be filled out and mailed to our office (address on top of form) with a $50 non-refundable deposit.

Using the planning packet and CES Youth Programs Office as resources, your committees plan the youth conference.

Our office will send CES teachers to your conference for the days you request.

After the conclusion of your conference, you will be billed for the teachers’ participation.

Because of the nature of Regional Youth Conferences, we typically have teachers available year round to teach.

What about food and housing?

Your conference is responsible for food and housing. Factors such as location of the conference and travel distance will determine your conference’s needs.

Some common housing options:

  • Have youth stay at home (this works if your conference will be held locally and none of the youth have to travel a great distance).
  • Use host families (if the location of the conference is local to some of the group, they can host youth who have to travel from greater distances).
  • Use local college dormitories (often youth conferences are held on college and university campuses).
  • Rent tents or cabins (please be aware that outdoor/camping conferences pose additional challenges).

Depending on where you stay, local wards can cook and serve the food, meals can be catered, or meals may be eaten in a cafeteria.

Who are the teachers and how do I arrange for them to come to my conference?

CES Youth Programs has a vast pool of quality teachers we use for all our youth programs. Most of our teachers are seminary or institute teachers. Many live in Utah, but we do have teachers scattered throughout the United States.

All of our teachers and their presentations have been cleared through Church Correlation.

"You might remember that we were concerned about the speakers — because we have always had [well-known speakers] . . . and these current speakers were all new and unknown to us. But they were FABULOUS! Each speaker was absolutely SPOT ON! We really appreciated the way they had the kids involved . . . and also had them reading in their scriptures. That was NEW to us, and very welcome. Thank you so much for their great work. Please let them know how much we appreciated their remarks." - Santa Monica, CA

Scheduling teachers to come to your conference is simple. Just fill out the Request Form and send it in to our office with a $50 deposit. The form lets us know how many teachers you want and what days you need them.

We will contact the teachers and let them know of your conference’s theme, goals, and requested topics.

Our office typically makes all travel arrangements for the teachers. If arrangements need to be made differently, please contact our office at (801) 422-3817.

What does a regional youth conference cost?

The cost of a Regional Youth Conference is dependent on several factors. CES Youth Programs bills you for the cost of your teachers:

  • The honorarium paid to the teachers (which is based upon how long the teacher is with your conference and how often they teach)
  • The direct travel costs (which could be airfare, car rental costs, or mileage)
  • Hotel/Lodging fees (CES policy requires that teachers have their own room and bathroom while traveling. They may not stay in homes of participants.)
  • Food/Meal costs while traveling for the conference
  • CES overhead/administrative fees

A $50 deposit is required at the time of your request. That deposit will be applied to your final bill.

Because of all the variables, it is impossible to give a price quote online. Please contact our office at (801) 422-3817 for an estimate.

How do I request a Regional Youth Conference?

Requesting speakers for your youth conference is simple. Print out the three page Request Form, fill it out, and mail it to our office along with a $50 non-refundable deposit.
