EFY Special Editions - New for Summer 2008!

We are excited to announce three Special Edition sessions of EFY!

These sessions will include all of the excitement you have come to expect from EFY, including games night, variety show, musical program, dances, and more. Instead of typical classroom instruction, your classroom on Tuesday and Wednesday will be visiting church history sites in the local area.

See the heart of the restoration, and the early beginnings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints firsthand.

Space is limited. Register early!


Nauvoo, IL Special Edition

Dates: June 30 - July 5, 2008 and August 11 - 16, 2008
Location: Nauvoo, IL
Cost: $490

Take a trip back to the 1840s as you:

  • Walk the gardens of the newly reconstructed Nauvoo Temple and participate in baptisms for the dead.*
  • Discover the arts of blacksmithing, coopering, weaving, and candle-making.
  • Explore a historic bakery equipped with a bustle oven.
  • Examine the gun collection of the Browning family.
  • Review the stirring history of the early settlers at the visitor's center.
  • Visit Carthage Jail and the old cemetery.

*Participants without a limited use temple recommend will participate in an alternate activity.

Shuttle Options:
There are two choices for a roundtrip shuttle to Nauvoo: a Sunday shuttle or Monday shuttle. (The drive from the St. Louis International Airport to the Nauvoo Family Inn is approx. 3.5 hours.)

  • Sunday:
    • Pick up: 7 pm at the St. Louis International Airport.
    • Return trip pick up: Sat. at 7 am at the Nauvoo Family Inn.
    Sunday shuttle passengers are required to make their own reservation at the Nauvoo Family Inn for Sunday night accommodations.


  • Monday:
    • Pick up: 11 am at the St. Louis International Airport.
    • Return trip pick up: Sat. at 7 am at the Nauvoo Family Inn.

  • Tour the Smith Family Farm to learn more about the boyhood of Joseph Smith Jr., the first prophet and president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
  • Retreat to the serene woods of the Sacred Grove, where Joseph received a vision of God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ.
  • Learn about the events that occurred on and near the Hill Cumorah.

The fee for the shuttle is $20 round trip. The drive from the Syracuse Airport to the Colleges of Hobart and William Smith is approximately 1 (one) hour.

Hiram, OH Kirtland Special Edition

Discover the Church of the 1830s as you:

  • Visit Historic Kirtland, where members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gathered shortly after the Church was founded.
  • Witness the majesty and beauty of the first Latter-day Saint Temple built in the last dispensation.
  • Come to understand the lifestyle of early church members as you tour the ashery, sawmill, Whitney store, schoolhouse, farms, and other important settlement areas.
  • See the residences of several early saints, where many important revelations were received.

Shuttle Options:
The round trip shuttle will run to Hiram College from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE).

  • Shuttle times from the airport will be as follows:
  • Sunday, July 6th 5PM--$40 (includes Sunday night lodging at Hiram College)
  • Sunday, July 6th 8PM--$40 (includes Sunday night lodging at Hiram College)
  • Monday, July 7th 12 Noon--$20

The return shuttle will leave Hiram College at 8AM Saturday, July 12th and arrive at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) at approximately 9AM.

To register for one of the above options, simply log in to your EFY account for the Hiram session and click on Edit Options. Choose your desired shuttle option and follow the payment procedure.

Participants arriving Sunday night are considered early arrivals who will check into the dorms on Sunday, but will not officially check in to EFY until Monday from 11:30am to 1:30pm. The first meal provided with the session will be Monday evening. Meals prior to Monday evening are available for purchase at campus dining facilities.

Travel Time: Hiram College is located less than an hour from either of the above airports

Early Arrival Options:
Participants may arrive on Sunday before the session starts. Check in will be at the lobby of the dormitory they will stay in (Miller Hall-women or Whitcomb Hall-men). They will be billed $20 per night for their early arrival stay on campus. A Sunday night shuttle from the airport plus a one night stay in the dorms can be registered for online for $40 ($20 shuttle + $20 one night stay on campus). Please notify EFY of any early arrivals that will not be registered for online.
