Registration for 2008 Dance Camps will begin Thursday, February 14, 2008, at 9:00 a.m. MT.
This summer, travel the world with the magic and music of international folk dancing! Enjoy three days of vigorous dancing, beautiful music, and imaginative instruction! Learn dances from a variety of world cultures. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or just eager to perform some of the world’s most exciting dances, you’ll learn skills at this camp that will enhance every aspect of your life! The fun, lively movements of folk dancing will increase your balance, agility, strength, and coordination while improving your awareness of the cultures in current world events. This year we will be focusing on Polish, Polynesian, Scottish and African dances.
Broaden your dance experience socially, culturally, and technically by performing dances that reach through the ages. Whether you have been to a BYU dance camp in the past or this is your first year, you will enjoy this truly unique and memorable experience.
Special Features
Camp Directors
Jeanette Geslison: is a faculty member in the BYU Department of Dance, having graduated with her MA degree in dance. She has performed and toured extensively with the International Folk Dance Ensemble, while emphasizing pedagogy and research during her studies of the cultural aspects of dance.
Becki Love: received her BA in dance education from BYU and taught dance in the public schools before returning to BYU as the coordinator of the BYU International Folk Dance for Youth program. While a student at BYU, Becki also performed and toured extensively with the International Folk Dance Ensemble.
Folk Dance Camp Team
Each instructor is carefully selected and has extensive teaching and performance experience within the international folk dance area.
