DESCRIPTION
Participants in the BYU Children and Teens' Creative Dance Program will receive training in dance technique which develops flexibility, coordination, strength, physical awareness, and body control. Students will learn through movement the basics of rhythm, participate in problem solving, create innovative compositions, and develop excellent performance skills.
DATES
Classes begin the week of September 8-12, 2008, and culminate the week of May 11-16, 2009. information regarding holidays and performances will be distributed by teachers shortly after classes begin.

AGES
Grades preschool to 12 (3–18 years).
PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES
The Creative Dance Program includes an optional performance opportunity for original choreography during the November and February “Danceworks” performances. Class groups will be featured in a May performance called “Sharing Showcase.” The Young DanceMakers (those in company classes that meet two or more hours per week) will perform in “An Evening of Dance,” in May.
PARENTS’ VISITING WEEKS
There are four designated weeks throughout the year during which parents are encouraged to observe their child’s class. These include the first week of class, the last week before Christmas break, the first week after Christmas break, and the last week before the concert. Parents should not observe class at any other time in order to allow the teacher and students to work without interruption.

REGISTRATION
Registration can be done over the phone with a VISA, MasterCard, or Discover Card by calling (801) 422-4851 (press 1). Please specify the age group and day and time of the class for which you are registering. Registrations can be done in person at 120 HCEB. Checks should be made payable to BYU.
Full tuition is due at the time of registration. (See class schedule for tuition amounts.) Please note that there is a $15 discount on all registrations received prior to September 1, 2008. All classes are subject to change and cancellation.
Company class enrollment is by invitation only. Students will be evaluated for correct placement during the first month of classes. You will be contacted about any recommended adjustments and, upon approval, will be billed if there is any change in cost. No fee will apply for such transfers.
CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS
All cancellation and refund requests must be submitted in writing or email (sportscamps@byu.edu) to Creative Dance Refunds, 147 HCEB, Provo, UT 84602, or faxed to (801) 422-0730. A full refund less a $25 handling fee will be granted to all requesting cancellation prior to the child’s first class during the first week (September 8-12). During the first month of class, refunds will be approved on an individual basis. After the first month of class, No refunds will be given. Please plan accordingly.
