2008 Sports and Dance Camp Counselors

BYU Sports Camps

Counselors have the opportunity to work with youth from all over the country and make a positive impact in their lives. We are looking for individuals who are sociable, responsible, and like to work with youth. No athletic or dance experience is required, as Counselors interact with the participants when they are not at their sports and dance practices. Before applying, please read the following general information.

Duties for Regular Counselors
As a Counselor, you will help out during Monday morning registration (times will vary according to your specific camp). You will be assigned a group of participants for the week, whom you will supervise and interact with during the evening activities. Evening activities include ice cream parties, dances, Seven Peaks trips, movie nights, talent shows, and pool parties. You will also hold a nightly devotional with your participants and conduct a nightly head count. Dependable counselors are key to the success of these activities.

Work Schedule for Regular Counselors

  • Monday—Friday
  • Monday Registration: 8 AM to 1 PM (times will vary)
  • Mandatory Daily Staff Meeting: 4 PM
  • Nightly Assignment: 4 PM to 9 AM (You are required to stay the night in the dorms.)
  • Checkouts: Checkout times will vary. (You are required to check out your participants during the posted check out time.)
  • $225 per week

Duties for Dorm Counselors
As a Dorm Counselor you will be responsible for a group of counselors each week. You will conduct daily meetings with your counselors to coordinate activities and receive nightly head counts. You will also play an important role at camp practices and activities during the day while the regular counselors are off duty. We are looking for individuals that can accept responsibility, are respected by others, and lead in an effective manner.

BYU Sports Camps

Work Schedule for Dorm Counselors

  • Monday—Friday
  • On duty continuously from Monday registration until Friday at 5 PM.
  • Supervise a group of regular Counselors.
  • Monitor participants and aid coaches during practices.
  • Assist the Head Counselors
  • $400 per week
    • BYU students will be paid twice a month by direct deposit.
    • Non BYU students will be paid once a month by direct deposit.

All Counselors Receive

  • Housing for the duration of their camp
  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the duration of their camp
  • Weekly Pay
