We are sorry to announce, but we are suspending the Cheerleading camp for the summer of 2008. We are currently restructuring the camp to create a better BYU cheerleading experience for all participants starting in the summer of 2009. Please check back beginning of 2009 for updated information regarding this new camp.
Brigham Young University, in cooperation with the United Spirit Association, is excited to announce its new high school cheerleading camp. The United Spirit Association (USA) has been hosting cheer and drill camps across the country for over 25 years. With USA overseeing this camp, it is sure to be an instant hit and provide you and your team with the training needed to have a great year!
Special Features
The workshop package includes instruction, lunches, dinners, and camp novelties. The workshop package with campus housing includes all meals, instruction, housing, and camp novelties. Camp fees will be charged to all attendees regardless of age or participation. Students receive adult supervision by USA’s administrative staff for the duration of the camp.
Camp Chaperone
Each team staying in campus housing is required to bring one adult chaperone who is age 21 or older. Any additional adults should register on the enrollment form and pay the nonparticipant fee. Teams not staying in campus housing do not require a camp chaperone.
Nonparticipant
Team coaches, directors, advisors, and other adult support staff should register as nonparticipants. The nonparticipant fee includes lunches, dinners, advisor workshops, and camp novelties. When not attending advisor workshops, nonparticipants are welcome to observe the workshops with their team.
Dress and Grooming Standards
Participants of the BYU Cheerleading Camp must maintain the standards of Brigham Young University (i.e., high standards of honor, integrity, language, and morality; abstinence from tobacco, alcohol, coffee, tea, and harmful drugs; and modesty in dress). Athletic shorts and performance attire are acceptable only in the PE and housing areas. Shorts worn in other areas on campus must be knee-length. Please—no sleeveless shirts or tank tops. Dress standards are strictly enforced in the cafeterias and on the main campus. A clean and well-cared-for appearance should be maintained. Hairstyles should be clean and neat, avoiding extreme styles. Men’s hair should be trimmed above the collar, leaving the ear uncovered. Earrings for men are unacceptable, and men are expected to be clean-shaven. Beards are therefore not acceptable, except for documented reasons that must be coordinated with Conferences and Workshops.
